Souffle

Site specific sound installation, 2014

(Six channels soundtrack, amplifier, speakers, low frequency transducers)

The sound installation integrates different types of loudspeakers and transducers into a Babcock & Wilcox industrial boiler from the late 19th century. The soundtrack is mainly based on pure tones and filtered white noises, specifically tuned to resonate within the tanks volumes and large cast pipes. The sound seems to revive or animate the steam engine, silent for more than a century.

The installation has been realised in the context of the exhibition Le Domaine des Murmures #1, Château d'Avignon, Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, France, 2014.
