Chant de poussière

Sound installation, dimensions site specific, 2005
(Brass line, dust and hair, fan, contact microphone, amplifier, transducers)

Chant de poussière (Dust song) is made of dust and a hair ball tied to a brass string with a single hair. A fan placed below excites the ball and make it slide along the line in a random motion. Captured with a contact microphone, the minute and inaudible vibrations of the string are amplified and played through the windowpane. Transducers emit high frequencies close to the ceiling when the basses are played at the floor's level. The system reminds almost invisible but fills the all acoustic space.
